5 Newspaper Headlines You Thought Were Fake
Millions of people read newspapers every day. That's the way they know the latest events in the world. Since there are millions of newspapers being printed every day, most people expect to get news headlines that are at least reasonable and informing. Whether you are reading an offline or an online newspaper, you expect to get the latest news from professional journalists, which are supposed to be good. However, occasionally, some newspapers publish headlines that are bizarre and weird and make most people think that they are fake. You might even do the same while reading these fake-looking, but true headlines. Check these out.
1. Indian Firm Asks Staff to Chip in $1,600 Each to Pay Bail for Boss
Subrata Roy, a prominent Indian conglomerate mogul, was arrested on February 28, 2014 for failing to turn up to a contempt hearing ordered by the Supreme Court. It has been known that he has a problem with security regulations in India. Subrata is the head of the Sahara India. His dispute with the securities regulators in India required him to pay a total of $1.7 billion dollars in order to bail him out of jail. Wanting to help their boss, the company sent messages to all employees requiring each to pay $1,600 to help cover the bail cost that needed to be paid to the court. This might sound ridiculous, but it happened.
2. Dallas Police: Man Sends Dick Pic with Job Application, Still Doesn't Have a Job
Normally, a would-be employee would strive to make a great first impression to his or her future employer. But not so for a Dallas man who wanted to do something different in his job application. When he applied for a job with the Texas Workforce Solutions, he sent a resume and a job application as usual, but this time, he also sent a picture of his dick to the company. As a result, upon receiving his application, the employer at the Texas Workforce Solutions called the police promptly and reported the man for a class-C misdemeanor. So far, the man is still unemployed. You can guess for yourself why companies are refusing his application.
3. Statistics Show That Teen Pregnancy Drops Off Significantly After Age 25
Did you see how funny this newspaper headline is? We are told by the statistics that teen pregnancy is significantly reduced after age 25. And yes, we know that there is no teen with the age of 25. Anyone who is more than 21 years old is already considered an adult, right? That's how funny this newspaper headline is. It was published in December 1999, which is quite a long time ago, but the bizarre and obvious wording of the headline is still laughing material for many people.
4. Utah Poison Control Center Reminds Everyone Not to Take Poison
Who would take poison of their own free will, other than people who want to commit suicide? This obvious headline told us about the allegedly authoritative government organization called the Utah Poison Center, which reminded us not to take poison. While the intention might be honorable, the way this organization sent their message is laughable. It would be better for them to tell people how to be aware of eating poisoned foods or to be wary of the potential of poisons that can contaminate our food.
5. Florida Woman Calls 911 after McDonald's Runs Out of McNuggets
The police force is usually busy dealing with big cases all over the city. But there are always people who want to get the police's attention for petty things that they really can solve on their own, without the help of law enforcement. A woman from Florida called 911 because she had a little dispute with McDonald's. The dispute started because McDonald's could not give her the McNuggets that she ordered, not because they didn’t want to, but because they had run out of them. The problem was that the woman asked for a refund for it, but the restaurant refused to give it and instead offered her a McDouble.
